Sae-A Trading, a global apparel manufacturer and exporter with worldwide operations, has been named to the 2024 CDP Supplier Engagement “A List” in recognition of the company’s outstanding performance in supply chain climate action and ESG leadership.
Administered by CDP—a globally recognized non-profit that runs the world’s largest environmental disclosure system—the Supplier Engagement Assessment (SEA) evaluates how effectively companies engage their supply chains on climate-related issues, with a focus on Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions, governance, target-setting, supplier collaboration, and risk management.
Out of more than 22,700 companies assessed worldwide in 2024, Sae-A Trading is one of the few global apparel manufacturers to earn a place on the A List, positioning the company among a select group of global supply chain leaders advancing climate action and sustainable business practices.
“It is becoming increasingly important for companies to take responsibility for reducing environmental impact across the entire supply chain,” said Sonia Lee, Head of the ESG Division at Sae-A Trading. “We believe that engaging our suppliers is essential to accelerating the transition toward a sustainable, net-zero future. Being recognized by CDP with an A rating reaffirms our commitment to collaborative climate action.”
Since 2018, Sae-A Trading has strengthened its climate strategy by developing a company-wide greenhouse gas inventory and collecting and analyzing supply chain data from over 100 suppliers through its proprietary SCCS (Sae-A Carbon Control System) platform. In 2024, the company became the first in Korea’s textile and apparel industry to receive approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its 2030 emissions reduction targets and 2050 Net-Zero goal.
Sae-A Trading also works closely with its Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers to align with global sustainability practices, enhancing transparency and engagement throughout its value chain. This comprehensive approach has helped the company demonstrate excellence across CDP’s five key assessment areas: supplier engagement, Scope 3 emissions management, governance and strategy, target-setting, and risk management.
Building on this foundation, Sae-A Trading continues to expand its sustainability leadership. In 2024, the company joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and strengthened its commitment to responsible sourcing by participating in the FSC’s Fashion Forever Green Pact. Most recently, Sae-A Trading became a signatory to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action, further aligning its decarbonization roadmap with global climate goals. As part of its broader group-wide decarbonization efforts, its affiliated fabric mill Win Textile completed a full transition from coal to 100% biomass fuel at its Indonesian facility in 2025, achieving its “Coal-Zero” goal a year ahead of schedule.
“This recognition reflects the collective efforts of all departments within Sae-A Trading working toward a more sustainable future for the fashion industry. We are grateful that these efforts have been acknowledged, and we will continue to quietly but steadily carry out the work that must be done, in collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders,” Lee added.
